on the 6th june.. internet geeks were all anticipating some birth of the son of the devil or the devil appearing in true flesh or george bush declaring himself to be satan… while i can be considered a geek… i wasn’t interested in all that bullshit because i know nothing will happen lah. satan himself won’t be so stupid to do this kind of thing on such a specific date. its like getting married on valentines day, so dumb and stupid.
but anyway a very bored wenchang gave me this url to see… its actually the website for the church of satan. you can feel free to go and read just fyi, yah.. no need to be scared got scary pictures or what… and of course if you already have a religion then maybe you shouldn’t but if you don’t mind reading it… then you really should
the 9 satanic statements (select THEORY-PRACTICE) that i got from the website are as follows:
1. satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence
2. satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams
3. satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit
4. satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates
5. satan represents vengence instead of turning the other cheek
6. satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires
7. satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of its “divine spiritual and intellectual development”, has become the most vicious animal of all
8. satan represents all of the so-called sins (greed, gluttony, envy, pride, sloth, lust, wrath) as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification
9. satan represents the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years (ok i think they are referring to Christianity here)
i have remained a free thinker throughout the years because i had considered all the religions and refused to submit to a higher spiritual level. that i had thought of the human as a mere animal as the result of monkey evolution, ’succumbing’ to a higher spiritual level just didn’t make sense to me.
i came up with a ‘religion’ about 5 years ago called I-ism (not I for ian, but I for the me and myself). i-ism believed in the fight for one’s own self interest. i believed that humans were all selfish for their own good. and it is very easy to see why, simply because nobody wants to do something that is bad for them. or more often than not, they choose the lesser of many ‘evils’. when humans make sacrifices for other humans, it is because they stand to benefit something out of it. you go out of your way to spare some time for your girlfriend so that 1) she loves you more. 2) she doesn’t kick out a fuss etc. so in making sacrifices as these, there is always a benefit (or dirty ulterior motive) for you to gain, and that fulfills the selfishness of every human.
there’s more to my ‘religion’ but i shall cut the story short. i was quite taken aback when i read the 9 satanic statements because by and large, they summarised my ‘religion’. kindness begets kindness. provocation begets conflict and death. satanism had everything to do with the SELF as opposed to some perceived higher echelon. that was precisely what I-ism meant - “you as the center of everything”.
i felt quite sad to label myself as a satanist because of all the stigmas we have for satanism. but don’t worry lah. i am not about to declare myself as satanic, cos i am very much still a free thinker, occasionally leeching this idea and that idea from various religions to come up with some religious rojak for my own consumption, very much the spirit of being in multi-cultured singapore. but i digress.
my point being, satanism isn’t what we have always perceived it to be. well, maybe in the past… ok lah maybe now they are having some kind of sick ritual that will confirm all my fears about them. but if these 9 statements are anything to go by, i believe every single one of us is satanic. i mean if i want to be cliche, its just the evil side of everyone. you know, everyone is good and evil thats why we are MAN and not GOD yadda yadda… but that is not quite it either… when you consider self-gratification, do you think it to be ‘evil’?
is having carnal desires being evil? is wanting justice on some criminal evil? fuck. the judicial systems, the prisons, and the police are governmental tools to catch those idiots that steal your stuff and rape our daughters. and then throw them in jail. for what? to appease the need for mental gratification of everyone. you see a serial killer go to jail and get hanged you also lagi song rite! or you prefer him to just have life imprisonment? no! cannot! kill the fucker! make everyone happy! if you still think that self-gratification is something we have to totally condemn, then society ought to be condemned. because society represents the very pillar of self-gratification of the human civilisation
satanism isn’t wrong. christianity, or any other religion isn’t wrong. ok lah you can say satan is evil while Christ is good… depends on your definition of good and evil… which, btw, are not synonymous to right and wrong. the lesson learnt for today is that we all have a part of satanism to identify with, and its up to you to decide how much you want to keep and how much of the higher divinity you want to attain, depending on your own spiritual needs and alignment. for me, i’m going to keep a healthy part of satanism in me, but i’m not satanic. i’m free thinking.
